Topping 2000 views of on our merger proposals with DCH
We’re really pleased to have heard from so many of our residents on our merger proposal plans with Devon and Cornwall housing association, DCH, to create a brand new organisation.
More than 745 of our customers responded to our survey, sharing their views on whether they agree that a bigger, stronger organisation can do more to build much-needed new homes, and to continue to invest in transforming service delivery. Combined with DCH’s response, we’ve heard from more than 2,000 people living in our homes.
This year we developed 244 new homes in nine local authorities throughout the south west. If we come together with DCH, the new organisation would have the capacity to develop over 15,000 new homes over the next ten years, making it one of the largest housebuilders in our region. Together, we’d build homes across all tenures with a focus on delivering homes for low market rent and low cost home ownership for people in housing need. This would be a vital contribution at a time of significant housing crisis – stepping up our activities to meet the challenges and expectations of the sector and our communities.
Over the next couple of weeks our Resident Engagement team will be spending time analysing your feedback and responding to individual queries. We’ll also be updating our website pages with updated Q&A’s answering more of your questions.

Your feedback on our merger proposal will be invaluable to our Board when they make a final decision in November. If we proceed, the new organisation will have a scale and ambition matched by few, creating unbeatable social value and financial capacity to invest in homes, people and communities in the south west.
