Project Wellington’s community event is a great success, with more to come

06 March 2014

The joint working group, Project Wellington, held a successful Halloween community event for residents from the Cades Farm area last year, and has another planned for the coming months.

The Halloween event, organised by the group’s members, Knightstone Housing, Wellington Children’s Centre (Somerset County Council), Tone Leisure and Somerset Skills & Learning, successfully brought together lots of different local companies who provided a range of activities for the local community.

After this great success, the Project Wellington team are planning to bring the community together again at their Easter Eggstravaganza event on Wednesday 16 April, 11am-3pm, at Rockwell Green Primary School, with more activities and refreshments arranged.

Jane Edmonds, Assistant Director at Knightstone said, ‘Knightstone are proud to be a part of Project Wellington, working closely with other organisations to bring the Wellington community together. Everyone enjoyed a fantastic day in October, and we hope to see just as many people at our event in April.

We’re also looking for budding young artists in the community to help us design a logo for Project Wellington. If you’re 12 years old or under, why not have a go at designing one? It can be anything you like but it’d be great if it was linked to Wellington.’

Entries need to be on A4 paper and state name, age, address and contact details. Entries can be handed into the Wellington Children’s Centre or Wellington Sports Centre and the closing date is Friday 28 March. Once the entries have been collected the Project Wellington team will decide on a winner and they’ll receive a prize for their winning entry.

Entries received after that date won’t be entered into the competition.  Good luck with your designs!

Local residents who own their houses were not told about these events ... Which caused myself problems on the day! Not impressed
