We've been awarded an enhanced level Employability Chartermark for Business

20 August 2014

We've been awarded an enhanced level Employability Chartermark for Business, for our business strategy commitment to employability.

The Employability Chartermark is awarded to businesses and education organisations in recognition of their commitment to, investment in, and delivery of work-readiness in young people.

Among many areas of good practice, we've been recognised for our strong working relationships and partnerships with local education providers and training providers. We've also been commended for our investment in an Into Work Team, and our promotion of work experience placements, both internally, and externally through our contractors.

Phil Barker, our Into Work Programme Manager, said ‘We’re very pleased to have been awarded an enhanced level Employability Chartermark. We continue to work hard to ensure that our residents are given the support they need to gain the necessary skills for work.

We also work in partnership with local schools and colleges to promote work and skills opportunities, as well as running our own successful apprenticeship scheme.

We aim to provide more, better and fairer opportunities for our residents to secure and sustain employment. It’s great that the work we’re doing has been recognised in this way.’

Veronica Parsons, Senior Client Relationship Manager and external assessor for the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership recommended that we should be awarded the Employability Chartermark.

Veronica said ‘The Employability Chartermark reflects the importance that Knightstone places on having effective links with local educational establishments, resulting in giving every opportunity to support its residents and the local community to achieve their employability potential.’

The assessment was carried out in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
