Aga finds ‘perfect place’ to live in her high performing energy-efficient home in Somerset

We're highlighting the importance of having more rural homes during Rural Housing Week and our resident Aga is in one of our new rural developments in Yeovil.

Agnieszka Wojciechowska says she has found her dream home thanks to a new energy-efficient development in Yeovil.

She and her family have lived in the town for 12 years, so they were keen to remain in the area.

After initially struggling to find somewhere bigger to move to, she began searching on Homefinder Somerset in the hope she would be able to secure a home with more rooms to accommodate her family’s needs.

But it was a development called Cherry Pie Meadow, built by LiveWest, which really caught her eye.

Now she has moved into her new three-bedroom affordable home with her two sons, two-and-a-half-year-old Casper, and Adam, 19 – and she couldn’t be happier.

Aga said: “The people who live around the area are nice and friendly and moving in was made smooth and straightforward.

“In the summer when it’s really nice and hot outside, downstairs is really nice and cool, so it was great to come home because it is like a breath of fresh air.

“LiveWest’s communication has been brilliant. We’ve been really lucky getting this home, we couldn’t wait to move in and it’s very nice to live here.”

Aga added: “Yeovil is not as quiet as it used to be so I was looking for somewhere not far from where we were already but that could offer us somewhere better.

“There was only a flat available, but I was thinking somewhere with a garden because I have a two-and-a-half-year-old boy.

“I found the houses very nice, there are lots of shopping options, and workwise there are no issues because I’ve been able to keep my current job. Travelling is easy as well.

“The company I work for is in Yeovil, but we cover Yeovil, Sherbourne and Wincanton area so living is Sparkford is the perfect place for me because everywhere is close, I can get everywhere I need in ten minutes. I live in the perfect spot for me.”

Aga, 37, is happy there are lots of local amnesties close by, including a nursey and school for her son.

The development, which is a partnership between LiveWest and Lovell Homes, has 36 new homes which are a mix of eight affordable rent, four shared ownership and the remaining homes are open market.

The 12 affordable homes are constructed with an energy reducing building fabric, air source heat pump and solar photovoltaics which has provided a minimum SAP rating of 91, with most of the homes achieving an EPC rating of A. All homes are also fitted with charging stations for electric vehicles.
