Families with children eager to play and explore the exciting outdoor activities in the park made the most of the brilliant weather at the free event whilst planting wildflowers and strawberries.
LiveWest worked closely with Lanner Parish Council and Coastline Housing to provide varied activities from traditional fete games to hula hooping, football and rounders. A BBQ also kept everyone refreshed. There was a soft-play area, face-painter, recycled crafts and quiz, with free books given out.
Mai Evans, Community Connector at LiveWest said: “This free summer event was an opportunity for the community of Lanner to get together and celebrate where they live.
This has been a long time in the planning but the partnership-working with Lanner Parish Council has been brilliant. It was great to see the enjoyment of all ages, a keen interest in green issues and the planting by young people. Hopefully they will mind the wildflowers and enjoy wild strawberries in future summers.”
Mai added: “In these times of hardship, it was important to also have South West Water and Community Energy Plus there to advise and signpost.
Our Community Star Sue who's lived there many years had inspired the event by her constant litter-picking and her planting and maintaining of our beautiful cornish hedges.”
LiveWest’s community events allow residents to come together as a community and learn how they can influence the decisions their landlord makes.
