Neighbours and friends from across Highbridge came together for a right royal jubilee jam held by local charity, the Morland Community Hub to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Families enjoyed the Morland Hub community event

The event was designed to fuse together both a modern and yet traditional celebration into a unique occasion for all ages to enjoy and featuring many local Somerset performers.

Jane MacPherson Projects Development Manager from Morland Community Hub, said: “We had an amazing celebration on this extraordinary occasion. A huge thank you to all the staff, volunteers and entertainers who worked so incredibly hard to make this happen.”

Town crier, Alistair Murray opened the event followed by Somerset street artists live children’s painting workshops and music from Mr D Jukebox Fury.

Sally Hill Community Connector at LiveWest, said: “The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is such a momentous occasion I am very proud of the Community Hub for coming together again and ensuring everyone in the community can celebrate together.

"The Morland Community Hub team have worked hard in the past few years to make the hub a very diverse and friendly community space, that supports many in the area and sometimes living with daily challenges. Our residents gain so much from the hub and the Jubilee event was a wonderful chance to build family and community memories.”

All activities and refreshments were provided by the Hub for free for the community to enjoy including free popcorn and candyfloss. A magician also made the event as well as the traditional punch and judy show.

Children were entertained with face painting and nature photography workshop sessions in the Hub garden with photographer Richard Tomlinson.

There was an 'Elizabeth Cake Competition' with a Royal Jubilee theme with prizes available for the winners, judged by Maiseys Bakery, of Highbridge.
