During this week’s campaign, we’ll be celebrating some of our apprentices on our website and social media to hear more about their career journeys and the support they have received along the way.
This year’s ongoing ‘Skills for Life’ theme for the 18th National Apprenticeship Week provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our apprentices and the positive impact they have on our communities.
We have expanded our apprenticeship workforce from three when we first launched the programme in 2015. A decade on and we currently have 72 apprentices in the organisation in a range of different professions across the business.
It’s not just trade apprenticeships that we offer and colleagues can also explore opportunities from a learning and development practitioner, an internal audit practitioner and even a governance officer.
We currently have 39 male and 33 female apprenticeships ranging from Level 2 Property Maintenance, to Level 7 Senior Leader which is equivalent to a master’s degree qualification.
Apprenticeships and training programmes are designed to nurture talent and create long-term opportunities. We are proud of the career progression, apprenticeships and qualifications we offer, which helps grow our colleagues’ careers and build our organisation.
Our Executive Director of People and Communications, Paul Turner, said: “Apprenticeships are a great way for people to achieve their career ambitions and are a key way to demonstrate people’s talent and giving them a platform to do this.
“Last year we had 48 apprentices, so we have increased our apprenticeship programme by about 33 per cent in 12 months which represents significant growth for us.
“This campaign showcases the range of skills an apprenticeship can bring to an organisation and how important it is to continue to recognise the training and progression it can offer, whether that is for someone out of college, career development or doing a job change.
“Apprenticeships encourage people to gain valuable skills while they earn a wage, and they also give people training while receiving qualifications to assist with their career journey.
“Since LiveWest started offering apprenticeship roles, we are proud of what colleagues have achieved and how the apprenticeship scheme has grown to give qualifications to not only trade roles but also other roles across the organisation.
“It is brilliant to see so many people working in the organisation after choosing to pursue this career path.“
Discover our apprenticeship scheme and colleagues' stories throughout this week. Stay tuned for our Qualifications Event in May where we will be showing some more career achievements.
