We were excited to participate in a recruitment opportunity for the ex-military, which was held by the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) at Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol.
The CTP supports leavers of the armed forces to transition back into civilian life.
We are proud to support ex-military members in finding both work and a new home.
Briony Plester, our People Adviser, and Alex Fairbank, our Gas Engineer and a former marine, attended the event on June 9 and presented job opportunities available at LiveWest.
They also offered information on apprenticeships for leavers of the armed forces who wanted to get into a new field of work.
Briony Plester said: “We hope that the event was a chance for people to learn more about LiveWest and share some of the exciting job opportunities on offer with us and the range of roles and skills we cater for.
“It was great to speak to so many individuals transitioning form their roles in the military to now seek a new challenge.”
Alex Fairbank added: “LiveWest has been so good to me, and they were the only ones I wanted to work for.”
Alongside this, we have joined forces with Plymouth City Council and charity Alabaré to develop our second military veterans' self-build scheme in Plymouth.
Taking inspiration from the successful Nelson Project, 12 of the new homes will be lived in by former service personnel who have been previously homeless or are in need of housing.
The Stirling House project will provide former services personnel with some invaluable skills as part of the house building project.
