LiveWest and regional housebuilder Allison Homes South West has joined together in partnership to develop 70 affordable new homes in Post Hill, Devon.
This follows the launch of our partnership with Allison Homes Partnerships last year, which aims to deliver much-needed affordable housing across the South West.
The new development will be made up of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, all of which will be affordable, and delivered as a mixture of social rent and shared ownership.
Caroline Hughes, our Assistant Director of New Business, said “We are delighted to partner with Allison Homes South West to bring 70 affordable new homes to Tiverton.
"The new homes provide a fantastic opportunity for local people to access great affordable homes.
“The development will also deliver a large area of public open space and a children’s play area and we look forward to seeing the positive impact the development will have on the local community.
“Creating a clean and sustainable future for our residents is a key priority for us and all of these homes will come with air source heat pumps which, not only minimises environmental impact, but also provides lower energy bills for our residents.”
Steve Fowler, Managing Director of Allison Homes South West, said: “The South West is currently facing a shortfall of affordable housing and so, in partnership with LiveWest, we are proud to be providing these 70 affordable homes for the local people of Tiverton.
“We take pride in designing and building high-quality purpose-built homes with the resident in mind. As standard, all our homes are energy efficient meaning lower monthly bills for our resident. Indeed, the new homes will be built to a minimum Energy Performance rating of B-86.”
The work on the new development is predicted to begin in November, with the first homes being available for occupation later in 2025.
This new scheme is part of our plans to provide around 5,000 affordable homes across the South West over the next five years.
Councillor Simon Clist, Housing Portfolio lead at Mid Devon District Council, said: “Through our Housing Strategy, we are enabling key sites to come forward for new affordable homes including land in our ownership, working in partnership with other providers who share our goal of addressing the shortage of affordable accommodation.”
Simon Newcombe, Head of Housing and Health at Mid Devon District Council, added: “Following a market process last year, we are therefore delighted to have sold the site to Allison Homes and LiveWest with full planning permission and look forward to the delivery of the 70 affordable homes for local people.”
LiveWest and Allison Homes South West has previously teamed up to deliver affordable housing at Somerset and Devon developments in Langport, Cotford St Luke, Churchinford and Bradworthy.
