Work starts to build affordable homes in Bradley Stoke

Addressing the shortage of affordable homes across the region is a key focus for us and this new development near Bristol will provide families with a good-quality, energy-efficient home.
Hornbeam Close

Work has started on a new development that will bring 21 new affordable homes to the village of Bradley Stoke.

We are developing nine rental family homes, a block of 11 supported living apartments and a separate wheel-chair-accessible bungalow.

All the homes will be for social rent.

The development, located at Hornbeam Close, is forecast to be completed at the end of April 2024.

The Harper Group has been contracted to build the development and has kept nearby residents up to date with its plans.

Vehicular access to the site will be via an extension of Hornbeam Close, which leads off Savages Wood Road.

The development benefits from strategic funding from Homes England, the government’s housing and regeneration agency.

It will also provide a permissive pedestrian access through the site which will act as a shortcut for residents living on Hornbeam Close.

Chris Dawson, our New Business Manager, said: “We’re excited to be working with the Harper Group to deliver quality, much-needed affordable homes that meet local need.
“We look forward to working together on this scheme and developing our relationship as we look to reach even more communities in the South West.

“The social rents will ensure these homes are genuinely affordable.

“We are committed to building vibrant communities and helping to make sure people can remain local. We are excited to be not only supporting local housing needs but also providing sustainable homes for the future.”

Councillor Ben Stokes, cabinet member responsible for Adults and Housing at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “It’s great to see work begin on the Hornbeam Close development in Bradley Stoke which not only delivers affordable homes for the community but also includes much needed specialist supported living accommodation for people with learning difficulties and complex needs.

“We are delighted that by working closely with our housing association partners such as LiveWest we are able to continue to deliver significant numbers of new affordable homes and specialist housing schemes to help meet people’s needs here in South Gloucestershire.”

Dan Coward, Senior Contracts Manager at J. Harper and Sons Ltd said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with LiveWest to deliver a high-quality mixture of properties to South Gloucestershire.

“Working collaboratively on this rural development, we will be bringing more affordable homes to the area of Bradley Stoke which reflect the needs of its residents.”
