How to fit a shower rail Back to top

  • A stick and lock type of shower rod might be best to use to avoid having to drill into the bathroom wall or use other tools. You can buy a stick and lock shower rod from plumbing supply retailers.
  • When ready to fit this, extend the shower rod into position and twist to lock the rod into place.
  • Add further tension when adjusting the rod to ensure it is firmly located between the two walls.
  • Check the feeling of the rod in the middle to ensure its secure and twist again if necessary, to finalise installation.

How to fit a shower curtain Back to top

  • When choosing a shower curtain first decide about how you would like this to be attached to the shower curtain rod.
  • You can buy easy to fit hookless shower curtains, which simply snap over the shower rod or you could also choose a shower curtain which can be fitted onto 12 shower curtain hooks, which fit around the shower rod.
  • Once the shower curtain has been fitted around the shower curtain pole, enjoy your new decorative shower curtain.

How to descale a showerhead Back to top

  • To descale your showerhead, you will need the following, distilled white cleaning vinegar, a plastic food storage bag, a rubber band, and cleaning cloth or sponge.
  • Fill the plastic bag halfway with the vinegar.
  • Take the bag and place it around the showerhead and secure it in place with the rubber band.
  • Leave this to soak for 30 minutes or longer.
  • When ready, remove the bag from around the showerhead.
  • If any leftover limescale remains on the showerhead, scrub or wipe this with the cloth or sponge. Your showerhead will now be sparkling clean and ready to use again.

How to replace a shower head Back to top

You should replace shower heads with one of the same make as your shower unit. This ensures that the shower head is built with the correct pressure for your shower unit.

Replacing your shower head with one of a different make may mean that any warranty you had on your shower is no longer valid.
