How to clean your extractor fan filter Back to top

  • To clean your extractor fan filter, you will need an empty sink or large bucket, washing up liquid and a washing up dish brush.
  • Turn the power off to your cooker and cooker hood.
  • Fill the sink or bucket with hot water and add the washing up liquid.
  • You will be able to remove the extractor fan filter from its position above the cooker by squeezing the release catches marked on the outside of the it.
  • Put the filter into the hot water and leave this to soak for 10 minutes.
  • After this time, look at the filter, you will see that some of the grease will have come away.
  • If further build up remains on the filter, use a washing up brush to scrub any remaining grease away, but don’t apply too much pressure as this could damage the filter.
  • You may need to drain the dirty water away at this point and rinse the filter in clean warm water.
  • Keep rinsing the filter in warm water until it is fully free of any grease.
  • Leave the filter to air dry.
  • Whilst the filter dries, you may want to look at the empty filter position above the cooker and clean any grease left behind with a clean dry cloth.
  • Once the filter is fully dry you can now place this back into position above the cooker.
